Fa-La-La-La-La

Furrow Tree Farm

The weeks leading up to the Holidays are some of my favorite all year! I love everything about the holidays; the community it creates for people, the traditions people celebrate, the slower pace with work, the time spent with family and friends, and toasty warm fires with a glass of wine in hand. I could go on forever, but my ABSOLUTE favorite thing about it is the tradition and process of picking that perfect tree, and filling my house with décor.

A family tradition of ours is to find a local farm and cut down our own tree the day after Thanksgiving. This is always harder than you would imagine, and a bit overwhelming because there are rows and rows of beautiful trees, and agreeing on “the one” is not as easy as you may think. This year, we let Maxx (our 7.5 year old), choose our perfect tree. Fortunately, he has a very good eye for things like this, and our tree is the best one yet! Once we get home, the rest of the day is spent drinking hot chocolate by the fire (made from raw cocoa and hemp milk of course), decorating the tree, listening to the “She & Him” Christmas albums (you should check them out if you haven't already) and “festi-fying” our house.

If you are hoping to start your own tree tradition, and don't know where to start, here are some local farms that we have visited over the years, and love! And, here are some photos to inspire you for filling your house with the spirit of the holidays.
